D. Mason asks:
I am installing traficmaster flooring at my entry above the stairs and in my basement. I want to install it on my stairs. CAN I GLUE TRAFICMASTER DOWN TO THE TREADS AND RISERS OF MY STAIRS?
FlooringFx.com responds:
Normally we avoid installing Trafficmaster (laminate flooring) and engineered flooring on stairs. We stay away from this due to the high cost of moldings and trim as well as the safety factor of the slick laminate flooring.
We are seeing more often and some laminate flooring manufacturers are creating some molding that makes it easier and more cost effective to use laminate flooring on stairs.
What I don’t advise installing laminate flooring on stairs due to safety because laminate flooring tend to be slicker than many other types of flooring.
So yes it can be installed, but normally I would recommend going with hardwood, carpet, or at least installing a runner.
I have seen Trafficmaster glued down and it definitely worked. In this application it of course would be advised to be glued down.

Often readers of this flooring site ask me what I put, so here you go. I love this Thomasville Engineered hardwood. I picked the walnut because the dark color has amazing eye-catching beauty.
